Universal Periodic Review

A central part of Freemuse’s advocacy is the United Nations’ Universal Periodic Review process, which is the UN system’s official mechanism for reviewing all member states’ human rights records in cycles of four-and-a-half years. Freemuse contributes to this process by submitting stakeholder reports with local partners on their country, highlighting restrictions on artistic freedom within the legal system and in practice and offering recommendations to increase artistic freedom.
