Nigeria: Arrested anti-president singer freed, says ‘No regret’

21 May 2014

Popular Kano political musician, Dauda Kahutu ‘Rarara’ (in previous reports often mistakenly referred to as Ahmed Audi Zarewa) who was arrested over a song he composed on the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to Kano State has been released from detention.

Dauda Kahutu had allegedly been arrested and interviewed by the operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) in Kano for his song ‘Mai Malafa’ (also referred to with the title ‘Zuwan Mai Malfa Kano’).

“Regret? No I don’t have it and that will not stop me from my business which is singing. I will continue to sing on politics and events around it. Very soon, I will release a song on the APC,” he was quoted as saying.

He told Weekly Trust on phone that he is planning to release another song on the prospect of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the country come 2015.
